Take the family for a holiday treat: LakePoint hosts Harlem Globetrotters

  • ()

LakePoint Sporting Community in Emerson is partnering with the Harlem Globetrotters to host the Globetrotter’s annual training camp through Dec. 9.

LakePoint’s new Champions Center, which features 12 full-sized basketball courts, will also host the camp’s exhibition game Dec. 8 at 7 p.m.

Earl Ehrhart, CEO of LakePoint Sporting Community, said the facility would bring in 3,100 seats to help with the crowd that is expected for the game. LakePoint’s arena facility is not designed for mass seating.  Each of the 12 courts features small bleacher seats to accommodate college or professional scouts who attend events to see prospects from high school or college-age players’ amateur teams in action.

“To have a prestigious and historic organization, such as the Harlem Globetrotters, choose LakePoint as the new site of their training camp, really helps to confirm the Champions Center as one of the premier indoor sports venues in the nation,” said Ehrhart in a press release
