Jason Warren, who grew up in Cave Spring, will open J&J Pharmacy in the old Cline Pharmacy building at 1 Alabama St. shortly after the first of the year
“I wish we could get in there tomorrow,” Warren said. Actually, he’s looking at a February opening for the new pharmacy. “We don’t want to open until we can take people’s insurance,” Warren said.
Warren is currently a minor partner in a community pharmacy in Cedar Bluff, Alabama, but will be the majority owner of the new shop in Cave Spring. “There’s a need for a pharmacy down there and I’d like to provide them with a good, reliable shop.”
In addition to a full line of pharmaceuticals, Warren said the store would feature a wide variety of front-end merchandise. He said the store would not necessarily be like one of the national brand name mega-pharmacies but would have a wide variety of over-the-counter merchandise.
Cave Spring has been without a pharmacy for several months since Cline’s closed.
“I think this is great news,” said Sandra Lindsey, director of the Downtown Development Authority in Cave Spring. “We’ve got a lot of people who will really benefit from having a local pharmacy again.”
