Agricultural borrowers happy to see green instead of white this Christmas

Agribusinesses in Northwest Georgia got an unexpected holiday surprise from AgGeorgia Farm Credit. The agency doled out more than $529,000 in special payments to ag borrowers in the Rome/Cartersville region.

Jessica Bassett, a marketing specialist for the agency, described the payments as something akin to a profit-sharing distribution. It was the third distribution of funding for the calendar year, bringing the total amount distributed to farm borrowers across nine counties – including Floyd – to over $1.6 million for 2016.

The Rome/Cartersville offices support farmers in Floyd, Polk, Gordon, Bartow, Pickens, Chattooga, Gordon, Paulding and Cherokee counties.

Bassett said the money was split among a total of 216 borrowers, 35 of them in Floyd County.
