Three Rome firms are sending crews to help with the downed trees in extreme South Florida.
Maloney Tree Service, W.C. Timber and Mulkey Landscaping have been requested by insurance companies to assist with the removal of debris in the wake of Hurricane Irma.
Lee Bagley, owner of Maloney Tree Service in Rome, said his company was first contacted to assist in South Florida following a storm in 2007.
“They called us back so we’re headed down there to give them some relief,” Bagley said. “We’ve got a good insurance group that we work with down there, so we’re going to try to give them some help.”
Maloney, Wayne Colburn at W.C. Timber in the Model community and Danny Mulkey of Mulkey Landscape in Silver Creek are sending three trucks with chippers, three large bucket trucks, a couple of lift trucks, four Bobcats and a couple of dump trucks, along with several of the large roll-off containers to help the clean-up effort.
Mulkey said his company has done a lot of insurance work at golf courses following severe storms.
“We’ll be on the ground getting up debris, Lee and Wayne, they’ll be doing all the overhead work,” Mulkey said.
Bagley said the contract is for a minimum of two weeks’ work and said it could go four to six weeks.
