Lavender Mountain giving away free tree seedlings for Arbor Day

Lavender Mountain Hardware and Garden Store Manager LaDrake Holley and Garden Center Manager Rebecca Petracca hold up seedlings. The store on Martha Berry Highway will be giving away Sawtooth Oak and Dogwood seedlings Friday through Sunday in honor of Arbor Day. All trees will be 20 percent off at the store as well. Arbor Day is a day set aside to reflect on the importance of trees in our state and across our nation. The first Georgia Arbor Day was proclaimed by the Georgia General Assembly in December 1890. In 1941, the General Assembly set the third Friday in February as the day of our state Arbor Day. / Virginia Brewer
