ROME BRAVES RECAP: Rome rolls past Asheville

How it happened: Marcus Mooney hit a run-scoring single in the fifth inning, leading the Rome Braves to a 7-4 win over the Asheville Tourists on Friday.

Anthony Concepcion scored on the play to give the Braves a 4-3 lead after he was hit with a pitch to lead off the inning, stole second and then went to third on an error.

The Braves later added a run in the sixth and two in the seventh. In the sixth, Austin Bush scored on a double play, while Lucas Herbert hit a two-run single in the seventh.

Rome starter Alan Rangel (2-3) picked up the win despite allowing three runs over five innings. Opposing starter Erick Julio (4-9) took the loss in the South Atlantic League game after giving up four runs and five hits over five innings. Bladimir Matos pitched 1 2/3 scoreless innings for his first save of the season. Willie Abreu homered and singled twice, scoring a pair of runs while also driving home a couple for the Tourists. Rome improved to 10-3 against Asheville this season.
