ROME BRAVES RECAP: Rome edged by Greenville on road

How it happened: Pinch hitter Roldani Baldwin hit a walk-off single with one out in the eighth inning, as the Greenville Drive topped the Rome Braves 1-0 in the first game of a doubleheader on Friday. The second game of the doubleheader was postponed because of rain. Santiago Espinal scored the game-winning run after he led off the inning with a single, advanced to second on a walk by Brett Netzer and then went to third on a single by Ryan Scott. Greenville starter Darwinzon Hernandez struck out eight and walked two while allowing two hits over 6 1/3 scoreless innings. Robby Sexton (4-6) got the win with 1 2/3 innings of scoreless relief while Bladimir Matos (3-3) took the loss in the South Atlantic League game. The Braves were held off the scoreboard for the 10th time this season, while the Drive’s staff recorded their 10th shutout of the year. Next Game: The Braves will play two games today against the Greenville Drive to make up for Friday’s postponed game. The doubleheader on the road will begin at 5:30 p.m.
