ROME BRAVES RECAP: Lexington shuts out Rome

Final: Lexington 4, Rome 0

How it happened: Lexington took a 1-0 lead in the fourth inning on a wild pitch that scored a run. Two runs crossed the plate in the sixth for the Legends on Gabriel Cancel’s RBI single and Meibrys Viloria’s run scoring double to make it a 3-0 game. The Legends added a run in the ninth for the 4-0 final. Rome tallied just four hits in the game.

Who did what for Rome: Izzy Wilson led off the bottom of the sixth with a double for the Braves’ only extra-base hit of the night.

On the mound: Legend’s starter Anthony Bender (5-5) earns the win going six shutout innings while striking out six. Rome’s Bryce Wilson (10-6) is hit with the loss going 5 2/3 innings giving up three runs, six hits, walking two and striking out four. Amaldo Hernandez (1) gets the save.

Next Game: The Braves begin a four-game series with the Greensboro Grasshoppers tonight at 7 p.m. at State Mutual Stadium.
