Rome Braves

Final: Delmarva 1, Rome 0

How it happened: A scoreless game was broken up in the bottom of the fifth inning as Tanner Kirk hit a two-out solo homer off of Rome’s Jeremy Walker and the Braves dropped the final game of their six-game road trip in Maryland to the Delmarva Shorebirds. It was Rome’s sixth loss in its last seven games.

Who did what for Rome: Anthony Concepcion hit a double to left field in the top of the second that moved Carlos Martinez over to third with two outs, but Jordan Rodgers struck out swinging on the next at-bat. No Rome player had more than one hit.

On the mound: Walker (3-10) struck out eight over six innings and allowed six hits. Rome’s Taylor Lewis and Thomas Burrows worked an inning each and kept Delmarva from adding any more runs on the scoreboard.

Next Game: Rome is off today and will start a homestand Wednesday with a 7 p.m. game against Lakewood.
