Swim Across America-Atlanta, a nonprofit that hosts benefit swims that fund pediatric cancer research, is partnering with the Atlanta Swim Association for the second summer pool swim program throughout metro Atlanta.

Neighborhood pools and swim teams can dedicate a practice, organize a Lap-A-Thon or host a pool party to raise funds. In turn, the association will provide branded banners, swim caps and temporary tattoos for the event and provide guidance and online tools to generate enthusiasm and participation.

With the association immersed in Atlanta’s swim and neighborhood communities, the partnership allows Swim Across America-Atlanta to bring their expertise in fundraising for a cancer cure to metro Atlanta’s youth swimmers and local pools.

Proceeds from the pool swims will contribute to the overall fundraising for the Atlanta chapter’s Open Water Swim Sept. 28 at Lake Lanier, and raises funds for clinical research trials at Aflac Cancer and Blood Disorders Center of Children’s Healthcare of Atlanta.

More than 15 Olympians are expected to swim the open water event and participate in an autograph clinic for the 600-plus registered swimmers and Olympians, 200-plus land volunteers and over 250 spectators. Swimmers can swim individually or as part of a team, and can choose from half-mile, 1-mile and 5-kilometer distances as well as a duck splash zone for all ages to enjoy.

The pool swims started in May, and the remaining ones are as follows:

June 24: Piedmont Driving Club

June 26: Dynamo Youth Water Polo Club
