WOODSTOCK — An armed woman who confronted staff at Mill Creek Middle School, forcing a lockdown, and fled was in jail Thursday without bond.

According to a Cherokee County Sheriff’s Office report:

A woman arrived at the school just after 5 p.m. Wednesday and attempted to pick up a child she had lost custody of. The woman was armed with a gun and argued with staff. Police were called and the woman left before they arrived.

Students were locked inside a locker room in the gymnasium for their safety and exited when deputies let them know it was safe. No one was injured.

The woman, Kimberly Bacon, was arrested later at another location and booked into the Cherokee County jail and charged by school district police with criminal trespass, weapon on school grounds, violation of a protection order, battery and aggravated assault.

Bacon remained in jail Thursday with no bond set.
