MARIETTA — A Mableton gang member is behind bars after allegedly firing multiple rounds at a Cobb County Police officer and leading officers on a multi-county chase.

The shooting occurred Dec. 12 during a traffic stop at Community Drive and Mableton Parkway in Mableton. Investigators said Mableton resident Kevin Scott Sosebee, 27, shot at a police officer before fleeing the area.

Over the next two days, members of the United States Marshals Southeast Regional Fugitive Task Force and the Cobb County Sheriff’s Office Fugitive Unit led searches for Sosebee. They received information that he was hiding in a remote trailer off of Pope Road in Carroll County, according to Glenn Daniel, spokesman for the Cobb Sheriff’s office.

The Marshals and Cobb police located Sosebee in the Villa Rica area with the assistance of Carroll County deputies.

According to the sheriff’s office, Sosebee fled and was captured in a Carroll County gas station, according to Daniel. Officers surrounded the gas station, and Sosebee was arrested without incident, Daniel said.
