MARIETTA — A couple of would-be Grinches were stopped before they could steal Christmas this week.
Two men who allegedly hijacked a UPS truck on Burnt Hickory Road in west Cobb on Thursday were arrested before they were able to get any Christmas packages off the truck, according to Cobb police.
Police found the uninjured UPS driver after getting called about a hijack-ing at about 10:30 p.m. Thursday and found the truck, which had been abandoned, after a search, according to Sgt. Wayne Delk, spokesperson for Cobb police.
Delk said it looks like the two men were “spooked” by the quick police response and ditched the truck shortly after they took it.
Police found the two men on foot in the parking lot of a nearby CVS and took them into custody without incident, Delk said.
Leonardo King, 23, of Rex, and Anthony Dwayne Singleton, 23, of Stockbridge, have both been charged with hijacking a motor vehicle, a felony, according to police. King was also charged with possession of a firearm by a felon, Delk said.
Both men are in custody at the Cobb County Adult Detention Facility, jail records show.
