Investigators in Cherokee County, Alabama arrested five people on drug charges including an Ohio man on a drug trafficking charge.

According to Cherokee County Sheriff Jeff Shaver:

The five people were arrested Tuesday. Kevin V. Johnson, 40, of Columbus, Ohio, was arrested on U.S. 411 and charged with trafficking. Investigators seized a significant amount of methamphetamine.

The four other people were charged in unrelated criminal investigations. Johnathan R. Butler, 31, of Centre, faces seven counts of unlawful distribution of a controlled substance, unlawful possession of a controlled substance, unlawful possession of marijuana, and multiple counts of unlawful possession of drug paraphernalia.

Butler had been on the run and was taken into custody at a camper in the Ferrell Community. Janice M. Lowe, 61, also of Centre, was arrested at the same residence on charges of hindering prosecution.

Tracy L. Maxwell, 61, of Centre, was for a parole violation warrant and unlawful possession of a controlled substance and unlawful possession of paraphernalia. Investigators arrested Maxwell on the previous Friday for unlawful distribution of a controlled substance.
