DALTON — A woman who police were searching for in connection with a Nov. 27 drug deal that led to a shooting on Wrinkle Street has been arrested.
Joana Cisneros, 19, of 703 Virginia Ave., Dalton, is charged with conspiracy to commit a felony for her role in the drug deal. Three other arrests have been made in the case.
According to a Dalton Police Department press release:
On Nov. 27 at approximately 5 p.m. 19-year-old Nathan Brett Hastey and 17-year-old Elijah Damon Ensley met 18-year-old James M. Walton and 20-year-old Donte Jackson for a drug deal. Jackson and Walton intended to rob Hastey and Ensley instead of following through with the drug transaction.
“During a struggle for the handgun, a single shot was fired which struck Walton in the face and exited before lodging in his shoulder,” the press release stated.
Jackson was arrested on Nov. 30 and charged with two counts each of armed robbery, aggravated assault and false imprisonment and one count each of tampering with evidence and aggravated battery. Walton is still recovering from his injuries.
Hastey and Ensley both have already surrendered to police and were arrested on charges of possession of marijuana with intent to distribute.
“Cisneros, who was in a relationship with Walton, was present at the time of the incident and facilitated the drug deal by leading Hastey and Ensley into the apartment. Cisneros had previously arranged to turn herself in to police on her warrant on Thursday but she failed to do so.”
