DALTON — After busting through a kitchen door and arguing with his estranged girlfriend, Bertram Beck stated he was “ready to go” and shot her, according to an incident report.

Beck shot the woman in her right arm and abdomen on Friday night at 1025 Prince Way in Whitfield County. He was arrested Tuesday night by the Cobb County Police Department in Smyrna and charged with posses-sion of less than an ounce of marijuana and giving false information to law enforcement.

Lt. Paul Woods with the Whitfield County Sheriff’s Office said he is working with authorities in Cobb County and said Beck, 44, will be re-turned to Whitfield County to face charges of aggravated assault and first degree home invasion. Woods said other charges could be pending.

According to a warrant sworn for Beck’s arrest in Cobb County, Beck was found with five grams of marijuana and twice gave law officers a false name and false date of birth.

Whitfield County authorities said Beck was arrested on domestic vio-lence charges related to the same woman in February. He was charged with aggravated assault, battery and cruelty to an animal in that case and was released on a $5,000 bond.
