MARIETTA — Cobb schools will give more than $71,000 to teachers to fund 10 special programs across the district after educators pitched the ideas to the “Cobb Tank.”
Based on the popular TV show “Shark Tank,” the teachers had to pitch their ideas to Cobb’s own sharks, but instead of picking and choosing which programs to fund, the sharks announced all 10 finalists would be funded, according to Nan Kiel, spokesperson for the district.
The programs include using spin bikes with fitness bands to encourage students to get active, building aquaponics systems to help end world hun-ger and more.
This year’s sharks include central office staffers, teachers, a business owner, the Atlanta Braves community affairs manager and even a student.
In late January, the district is expected to air the Cobb Tank finalists pitching their ideas to the sharks on Cobb edTV.
