The Cobb County Water System reported an estimated 2,700 gallon wastewater sewer overflow occurred on April 19.

The overflow, resulting from an eight-inch line hit by a contractor, occurred at 4395 Woodland Brook Drive SE in the Cumberland area. The sewage was discharged into a tributary to Gilmore Creek.

The Water System was notified of the overflow at 7:15 p.m. and the overflow was stopped by 9:30 p.m.

Upon arrival Water System employees found a manhole spilling sewage into the creek in an area of three-feet by eight-feet, leaving gray stains on the ground. Corrective action taken was to dig up the line, remove the jet head from the line and replace it with eight-inch PVC.
