Those looking to celebrate St. Patrick’s Day in Cobb County this weekend have a long list of opportunities to do so.
By the luck of the Irish, Cobb is expected to enjoy great weather this weekend. Thunderstorms on Friday will give way to a cool and clear Saturday, with a high of 56 degrees and a low of 37, according to AccuWeather. On Sunday, St. Patrick’s Day, expect more clear skies with a high of 59 degrees and a low of 38.
Here’s a list of some of the greenest events around Cobb:
♦ Keegan’s Public House in Kennesaw will be celebrating St. Patrick’s Day all weekend with a menu featuring corned beef and cabbage as well as green beer specials. The pub will have live music Friday night and Saturday, and the Jameson Girls and Guinness Girls will be on hand Saturday. Keegan’s Public House is located just off Barrett Parkway near the Cobb Parkway intersection.
♦ Johnnie MacCracken’s will likewise be celebrating all weekend, opening at 10 a.m. on Friday and Saturday and 11 a.m. on Sunday. The pub will feature Irish sampler plates, Irish beer, Irish music and Irish prayers of blessing. Johnnie MacCracken’s can be found on Atlanta Street just off the Square.
♦ The Cobb County government is hosting a St. Patrick’s Day Dance at the Windy Hill Community Center from 7 to 9 p.m. Friday. The cost is $10 and includes light refreshments.
♦ The Marietta Shamrock Shuffle 5K will begin at 9 a.m. Saturday with a start and finish line just off the Square. Proceeds from the event benefit the Marietta Police Athletic League. ♦ Smyrna’s 16th annual St. Patrick’s Day Festival takes place Saturday and Sunday at Market Village. Expect live music, drink specials and carnival games and rides for kids. Mayor Max Bacon will dye the Market Village’s fountain green at 5 p.m. on Saturday.
♦ Glover Park Brewery in Marietta will have its St. Patrick’s Day party from 11 a.m. to 11 p.m. Saturday featuring live music from Travis Cottle and his Irish Quartet starting at 6 p.m. The brewery will be pouring its latest creation: McNerney’s Irish Stout. The brewery is on Atlanta Street just off the Square.
The “Pick Your Path Bar Crawl” on Marietta Square is scheduled for 2 to 8 p.m. on Saturday. Reformation Brewery and Red Hare Brewery have partnered to put on the event, which features a wide array of participating bars and restaurants.♦
♦ The St. Patrick’s Day Live! Takeover at Live! at the Battery Atlanta is set for 5 to 11 p.m. on Saturday. Expect Irish food, drink specials, live bands, games and more. and sports fans gearing up for March Madness will be able to watch a slate of college basketball games that will decide who makes the bracket, which will be announced on Sunday.
♦ Mulligans on Roswell Street will have live music starting at noon on Sunday and a special menu including Reuben sandwiches and Irish nachos and tacos, Irish whiskey wings, corned beef and cabbage.
