A day after posting impressive wins in the second round of the state volleyball playoffs, Darlington and Sonoraville each find themselves with the lowest seeding possible going into the third round.
The Tigers, who finished as the No. 3 seed in the Area 4-A tournament, have been given the No. 6 seed by the Georgia High School Association seeding committee.
The seed forces the Tigers to travel to Savannah Christian Saturday for their third-round match. The winner of the match advances to the final four Oct. 30 against Hebron Christian.
Darlington has looked impressive in the playoffs, sweeping to three set wins against Fellowship Christian in the first round and Our Lady of Mercy in the second round.
Although Sonoraville is one of four area champions advancing to the final six, the Phoenix were also handed a No. 6 seed by the GHSA seeding committee.
The No. 6 seed means Sonoraville will travel to play a third-round match against Woodward on Saturday. The winner of the match advances to the semifinals on Oct. 30 against Blessed Trinity.
The Phoenix have also had a great playoff run, winning their first-round match in three sets against North Hall and then topping Oconee County in four sets Tuesday at Sonoraville.
If Darlington or Sonoraville advances to the semifinals, they will again be on the road because they are the lower seeds. The finals are set to be played Nov. 1 and 2 at Marietta High School.
