Rome swimmers squeak out
On a night honoring the swimmers who had helped Rome High remain a successful program, the school’s teams rolled to convincing wins.
Both the Calhoun boys and girls swimming teams earned wins on Thursday night at home in a quad match against Gilmer, Cass and Southeast Whitfield.
There were plenty of top performers for the Rome High varsity swim team Tuesday evening as it hosted Calhoun and Cass in a meet.
Mason Hunter won two events and the Rome Wolves and Lady Wolves came out ahead of host Darlington in a three-team swim meet on Tuesday.
The Darlington Middle School and the Rome Middle School swim teams competed at the Holiday Classic in Calhoun on Saturday.
Darlington finished fourth Thursday night in a swim meet against Woodstock, Gilmer, Cartersville and Coahulla Creek, but the Tigers had plenty of impressive performances.
The Calhoun boys and girls hosted a quad meet at the Calhoun Aquatic Center last Thursday and came away with a sweep.
The varsity swimming season began for the Darlington team last week as both the Tigers and Lady Tigers finished second out of four teams at Calhoun High School.
The Rome swim team came in third overall out of six teams Saturday at the Spear Shield Invitational in Canton.
