Creekside Christian 24, Unity Christian 6
Friday night might be a game best forgotten for the Unity Christian Lions as numerous penalties and turnovers stymied and haunted them, allowing Creekside Christian to record the 24-6 win at Ben Brady Field.
Fifteen penalties combined with three turnovers definitely hurt Unity. One of the turnovers was an interception Creekside returned for a touchdown.
After Creekside took a 12-0 halftime lead, the Lions just couldn’t find the answer.
Micah Harris scored Unity’s lone touchdown on a six-yard run. Harris led all Unity rushers with 68 yards on 12 carries.
He also had five catches for 61 yards.
Anderson Krueger had nine catches for 104 yards.
“The thing we need to do is to just keep working,” Unity coach Joe Curtiss said. “We believe we can stil get things going this season.
“The positive is we are on a bye week this week, and that gets a chance to get healthy.”
Unity (2-4) has a bye week next week before facing region foe Covenant Christian at home.
“Our kids are playing hard,” Curtiss said. “We’ve just got to clean up the mistakes.”
