The Ridgeland Lady Panthers stepped out of region on Wednesday and dropped a 3-2 decision at Trion.

After falling behind by two goals early in the match, Ally Johnson scored in the final seconds of the first half to pull the Lady Panthers within one.

Ridgeland controlled the action in the second half, outshooting the Lady Bulldogs, 14-3, but Trion was able to use a quick counter attack in the 57th minute to knock home their third goal of the match.

The Lady Panthers kept the ball near Trion's goal for most of the last 20 minutes, finally getting back on the board on a Dana Whittington tally in the 70th minute. However, it would be the last goal of the night for the Black-and-White as they fell to 1-2 overall this season.

"I was proud of how we played in the second half," said Ridgeland head coach Darren Crutcher, "but we have an problem of not showing up in the first half and it definitely caught us against Trion."

Ridgeland will hit the road for another non-region match on Friday at LFO. Both Ridgeland teams will be in action, beginning with the girls' match at 5 p.m. Ridgeland returns home on Tuesday to host Region 7-AAAA foe Northwest Whitfield, starting at 5 p.m.
