Sonoraville had 13 first-place finishes combined between the girls and boys teams on Tuesday as they hosted North Murray and Adairsville for a tri-meet.
Leading the way for the girls was Heather Ortiz who took first in both the 1600 meter (7:22) and 800 meter (2:47). She also finished second in the pole vault (7-06) behind teammate Gabby Romine (9-00).
Also placing first for the Lady Phoenix were Jordan Baumgardner in the discus (87-4.5), Cindy Piedrasanta in the 400 meter (1:20.2) and Adei Attoh in the 200 meter (30.32).
Over on the boys’ side, Andrew Slaton had a big day, placing first in the triple jump (44-11) and 110 meter hurdles (15.86) as well as being a part of the 4x100 meter relay team along with Cody Long, Stone Logan and Dylan Dixon that took first with a 45.43.
Josh Mattila placed first in the pole vault (11-00), Drake Johnson took first in the 3200 meter (11:36), Fred Spruell was first in the 800 meter (2:22.4) and Logan placed first in the 100 meter dash (11.98).
The girls team also got top-four finishes from Baumgardner (fourth in shot put), Maris Irick (second in long jump), Sommer Quinn (second in shot put, fourth in discus) and Kenzie Walraven (second in 200 meter).
Placing in the top four for the boys were Spruell (second in 400 meter), Johnson (third in 1600 meter), Dixon (fourth in 200 meter), Kenny Cooper (second in shot put, third in discus), Jonathon Novicki (fourth in discus), Bridger White (second in pole vault) and Alex Barton (fourth in 3200 meter, fourth in 1600 meter).
