The Rome swimming teams showed their potential heading into this weekend’s regional championships with dominating wins over Cartersville on Tuesday.
The Wolves won every event and took the meet with a final score of 168-92, while the Lady Wolves won all but one event at the swim meet and finished ahead 157-99.
It was the final home meet of the season for Rome, and the last meet before the teams head to Calhoun for the region meet on Friday and Saturday.
On the boys’ side, Ellis Marrs and Kent Schirmacher both finished first in two individual races.
Marrs won the 100 yard backstroke with a time of 1:02.72 and the 200 individual medley (2:18.83), while Schirmacher won the 100 butterfly (1:00.55) and the 100 breaststroke (1:06.32).
Beyond that, Kenta Davis won the 200 freestyle (2:00.17), Ryan Shaw won the 50 freestyle (23.37), Mason Hunter won the 100 freestyle (50.91) and Luchiano Hasko won the 500 freestyle event (5:55.59).
The Wolves also won the 200 medley relay (1:56.40), the 200 freestyle relay (1:36.20) and the 400 freestyle relay (3:42.03).
Kate Nobles, Viola Hasko and Megan Harrell all won multiple individual events for the Rome girls.
Nobles won the 200 freestyle (2:11.29) and the 100 backstroke (1:05.06), Hasko won the 100 breaststroke (1:11.24) and the 200 individual medley (2:28.67), while Harrell won the 50 freestyle (26.80) and the 100 freestyle (59.42). Sarah Eichenberger also won the 500 freestyle (6:57.58).
In the relays, the girls also took first in the 200 medley relay (1:59.00), the 200 freestyle relay (1:48.26) and the 400 freestyle relay (4:01.35).
