The Rome High girls soccer team, which put together a successful season in their first year in Class AAAAA, suffered a season-ending 4-0 loss to Flowery Branch in the first round of the state tourney.
Rome keeper Katherine Kozera notched 13 saves in goal.
The Lady Wolves advanced from the tough Region 5-AAAAA as a No. 4 seed, while Flowery Branch is the No. 1 seed from Region 8-AAAAA.
Rome ended its season with a 13-6 overall record.
Senior standout Theresa Stevens highlighted the year by breaking the school record for most single-season goals.
Stevens, last year’s RN-T Player of the Year, poured in 41 goals this season to break the mark previously held by Jesse Williamson (40).
Tuesday’s loss was only the fourth game this season in which the Lady Wolves’ defense allowed more than two goals.
