The Class AAA West Sectionals wrestling brackets are set and the seven wrestlers from Rockmart High School now know their opening opponents.

The sectionals will be held on Saturday at Sonoraville High School.

Rockmart’s Marlon Morales, the Area 2-AAA champion in the 170 pound weight division, will enter sectionals as the No. 2 seed. Morales will open up against Ryan Grady of Blessed Trinity, the seventh seed. If Morales wins, he will face the winner of the Pike County Dan Wornstaff (No. 3 seed) and Sonoraville’s Kevin Hurtiz (No. 6 seed) match.

Jacob Wynn enters sectionals as the No. 4 seed in the 126 pound group and his first opponent will be fifth seeded Terrance Perdue of McNair. If Wynn wins, he will face the winner of the match between No. 1 seed Max Pastor of Woodward and No. 8 seed Dawson Hunt of Central-Carroll.

Devin Darden is the sixth seed in the 113 pound class and he will start Saturday by facing Brennan Banks of Pike County, the No. 3 seed. A win by Darden would advance him to face either Dreyke Bargeron of Jackson, a seventh seed, or Francisco Sanchez of Coahulla Creek, a No. 2 seed.

Spencer Huth joins the 285 pound division as the sixth seed. His first opponent is No. 3 seed Jacob Haberkam of Dawson County. If Huth is victorious in round one, he would face the winner of the match between seventh seed James Sellers of McNair or two seed Brandon Sutton of Callaway.

Nick Forsyth starts the 132 pound class as the eighth seed and his first opponent is No. 1 seed Joe Twiner of St. Pius X. If Forsyth pulls the upset, he would face either Jackson’s Trent Ellis, a No. 5 seed, or Adairsville’s Chris Blackston, a No. 4 seed.

Braden Baert enters the 152 pound bracket as the No. 8 seed as well. His first opponent will be top seeded Chandler Pyke of Woodard. If Baert takes down Pyke, he would advance to face either McNair’s Jamaal Deng, a No. 5 seed, or Adairsville’s Brett Gutkowski, a No. 4 seed.

Rockmart’s Paden Bennett will represent the Yellow Jackets in the 160 pound division. Bennett, the No. 8 seed, will start his tournament against St. Pius X’s Dalton Scoggins, the No. 1 seed. An upset by Bennett would put him in a match against either Blessed Trinity’s Conner McGovern, a fifth seed, or Sonoraville’s Ryan Farist, a fourth seed.
