Looking to pick up momentum on Thursday in a pair of home matches, the Rockmart Lady Jackets volleyball team was able to do exactly that.

Hosting Polk County rival Cedartown as well as Temple, the Lady Jackets were able to sweep each game they played.

Against Cedartown, Rockmart won the opener 25-18 before completing the sweep with a 25-14 victory. In their contest against Temple, the Lady Jackets won 25-21 before dominating the Lady Tigers 25-4 in the nightcap.

The two wins came just at the right time for Rockmart. The Lady Jackets, who were state-ranked earlier this season, had dropped nine out of their last 15 games.

The Lady Jackets are slated to participate in some games this Saturday. Rockmart will play at 11 a.m. against Carver-Columbus and at 1 p.m. versus Callaway. Both games will be at Central-Carroll High School.

Rockmart will play on the road next Thursday, traveling to Adairsville to play Fannin County and Adairsville to end the regular season.

Currently the Lady Jackets have a 26-15-1 record.

The Area 2-AAA tournament will be held on Thursday, Oct. 10 and Saturday, Oct. 12 at Woodward Academy in College Park.

The Class AAA state playoffs will start on Wednesday, Oct. 16.
