The Ringgold football team had 11 players recognized for the 2012 All-Region Team.

First team All-Region honors went to Caleb Hamby (OL), Dakota Baer (LB) and Slade Dale (DB).

Second team players honors went to Kile Sholl (RB) Christian Plott (athlete), Zach Morris (DL) and Kanan Briner (DB).

Chase Burke (OL) Dallas McGee (OL), Brandon Johnson (DL) and Tyler Adams (DL) were Honorable Mention.

Tigers head coach Robert Akins said he was extremely proud of all his players.

“I thought our kids did a very good job this year,” he said. “We had some injuries that affected us and we had some close games. Hopefully we gained some experience that will help us in the future.” Ringgold finished its season 6-5 after losing to 37-14 to North Oconee in the first-round of the state playoffs. Akins said he’s looking forward to another productive season in the fall.

“We have a lot of work to do and we have to learn how to compete better,” he said. “I thought we competed well, but we have to learn how to win the games that can go either way. We have to work on getting kids tougher mentally and physically.”
