The Ridgeland Panthers advanced in the consolation bracket of the Class AAAA State Duals on Thursday night in Macon with an easy 60-17 win over Baldwin, knocking the Braves home from the tournament with their second loss.
Ridgeland fell to the consolations after a narrow 39-32 loss to West Laurens in the opening round earlier in the day.
Jake Clayton (120 pounds), Chris Prescott (126), Jordan Hughley (132), McKinley Mosgrove (145), Dylan Swanson (152), Ryan McGill (170) and Chris Henderson (HWT) all scored pins for the Panthers, while Preston Perrault (106), Mehki Ross (113) and Josh Jenkins (220) won by forfeit.
Ridgeland will face Troup in an elimination match at 12:30 p.m. on Friday. Troup was edged out by Luella, 31-30, in the championship quarterfinals. Should the Panthers win, they would wrestle the winner of the Oconee County-LaGrange match at 7:30.
In the other championship quarterfinal matches, Gilmer beat Oconee County, 56-12, Woodward Academy got past West Laurens, 39-36, and Jefferson cruised past Marist, 57-18.
The other consolation bracket results saw Blessed Trinity eliminate Cairo, 64-18, Perry eliminate Burke County, 54-12, and LaGrange eliminate Northside-Columbus, 58-8.
