The Ridgeland Panthers, ranked seventh in the latest Class 4A coaches' poll, continued their solid start with an 8-2 home win over Lakeview-Fort Oglethorpe on Thursday.
The Warriors touched up Ridgeland starter Daniel Johnson for a pair of runs in the top of the second inning to take the early lead. But the Panthers rallied to tie the game in the third, then broke the game open with a four-spot in the bottom of the fourth. They tacked on two final runs in the sixth.
Tray Hill had a pair of singles and drove in two runs. Issac Martenn also had two hits and scored three times, while Tucker Holdbrooks picked up a single.
Josh McNabb entered the game in the third inning and pitched four innings to get the win. Tyler Hisey worked the seventh in mop-up duty.
Ridgeland (5-1) will play four games in five days next week, starting with a home game Monday at 5:30 p.m. against Murray County.
The Panthers will close out the week with the first subregion series of the season versus Northwest Whitfield. Ridgeland will play in Tunnel Hill on Tuesday and Friday while the Bruins will visit Jay Smith Field on Thursday. First pitch of each game is slated for 5:30.
