Several local track and field athletes punched their ticket to the sectional track meet by finishing in the top four of their events Wednesday at the Region 7-AA Track Meet at Pepperell.
Pepperell’s girls and boys won their respective opening matches Wednesday at Calhoun against Coosa, 5-0, and Chattooga, 5-0, to qualify for the state playoffs.
Calhoun’s boys and girls golf teams qualified for state by winning the Region 7-AA crown Wednesday at the with scores of 340 and 164, respectively. The boys played at Fields Ferry, while the girls played at Elks Club.
A good–looking campus, nice weather, a solid communications program and a softball team striving to win its conference championship equaled a perfect fit for Pepperell High School’s Casey Padgett, who signed a national letter of intent to play softball for Eckerd College Wednesday morning in a ceremony at Pepperell.
Pepperell’s boys tennis team beat Murray County, 5-0, Friday night at Georgia Highlands, while the Lady Dragons lost, 4-1.
