It was determined during Saturday’s Region 7-AA coaches’ meeting that the Model boys will be the No. 3 seed for next week’s region tournament.

And although Model coach Jacob Travis was pleased with that development, he said he isn’t sure how much the number beside his team’s name will even matter.

“There’s no easy draw in this tournament,” said Travis. “(Regardless of the seeds), you’re still going to have to play (against) a good team.”

Travis’ team ended the season in a three-way tie with Coosa and Murray County for third place.

But Model was awarded the No. 3 seed based on the Devils’ 3-1 record against Coosa and Murray County.

Coosa went 2-2 against Model and Murray County, while Murray County posted a 1-3 mark against Coosa and Model.

Travis said getting the seeds finalized was a convoluted process.

“I’m just glad (Armuchee coach) Ray Tucker was there,” said Travis, referring to the region president. “He got it all figured out.”
