The LaFayette High tennis teams braved the cold and wind on Wednesday for a season-opening sweep at LFO.
The Ramblers shut out the Warriors, 5-0. A.J. Lowrance won at No. 1 singles, posting an 8-6 win over Jae Wongamanee. Jamie Huskey blanked Danny Harwart, 8-0, at No. 2 singles, and Clayton Underwood rallied from a 3-0 hole to beat Chris Delmas, 8-5, at No. 3 singles.
At No. 1 doubles, the team of Daniel Witt and Chaed Clements defeated Jeremy Evatt and Jonathan Hale, 8-3, while Noah Holland and Zan Thompson won at No. 2 doubles against Austin Gentry and Aeryk Young, 8-2.
The Lady Ramblers posted a 4-1 win. Madeline Ensley picked up an 8-2 win over Alexis Bivens at No. 1 singles, while Laura Beth Pettigrew beat Nayelli Gomez, 8-5, at No. 2 singles.
LFO's lone point came at No. 3 singles where Cassidy Rogers defeated Jessica McDaniels, 8-5.
LaFayette made quick work of the doubles matches. The No. 1 team of Tori Hunter and Abbey Hannah blanked Noel Miller and Moon McCroskey, 8-0, while Brieanna Maggard and Evie Waters handled Kate Culpepper and Chandler Hyde at No. 2 doubles, 8-2.
LaFayette's Thursday home matches against Cass have postponed until April 9. They will take the court again on Tuesday for a home match against Southeast Whitfield.
