Ridgeland High School’s track teams gave a pair of impressive performances in a four-team meet at LaFayette on Thursday.
The Panthers won the meet with 82 points, seven points clear of previously unbeaten Coahulla Creek (75). Chattooga (38) and LaFayette (35) rounded out the rest of the field.
The Lady Panthers took second with 68.5 points, just seven points behind first-place Coahulla Creek (75.5). LaFayette (56) was third while Chattooga (27) was a distant fourth.
Ridgeland controlled the sprint events. Xavier McLin ran a fast 10.96 seconds in the 100 meters, while Shaqualm McCoy took the 200 in a time of 23.34. They later teamed up with Brad Stailey and Dillon Peterman to run a solid 44.40 in the 4x100 replay to give the Black-and-White a sweep of the three events.
L.T. Agee took first in the 300 hurdles (49.28), while the 4x400 relay team of Stailey, William Jackson, DeAngelo Smith, and Wade Knight clocking in with a winning time of 4:13.
Jermane Conyers won the shot put (44-2), and P.J. Gardner took first in the discus (120-2).
Cody Howard paced LaFayette with wins in the 800 (2:21) and 1600 (5:20), while 400-meter specialist Jimmy Stallion won in a time of 56.28.
On the girls’ side, Amy Hill won the 400 (1:08), Autumn Jackson won the long jump (15-5), and the duo led the 4x400 relay team to victory in the day’s last event (5:29). Emily Holcomb scored first-place points in the 800 (3:17), and Kaelyn Byrd took first in the discus (88-5).
Katie Kilpatrick picked up two event wins for the Lady Ramblers, taking both the high jump (4-8) and the 100 hurdles (18.90). LaKasja McClinic won the 200 (29.10), Alex McGhee won the 300 hurdles (56.27), and the 4x100 relay team also won with a time. Runners and the winning time were not provided.
