The Gordon Lee Lady Trojans picked up their second win of the 2013 tennis season on Tuesday, sweeping the Ringgold Lady Tigers, 5-0, in Catoosa County.
Gordon Lee dropped just four games in the completing the sweep. Madison Hilley shut out Melanie DiMauro at No. 1 singles, 6-0, 6-0, while Katie Barger beat Chanda Bechard at No. 2 singles by the same score. At No. 3 singles, Bonnie Hankins took down Savanna Owens, 6-1, 6-2.
The No. 1 doubles team of Sara Clayton and Katherine Chambers blanked Rianne Chandler and Madison Crawford, 6-0, 6-0, while the team of Tori McElhaney and Sara Holcomb polished off the match with a 6-1, 6-0 win over Maggie Robbins and Emily Smith.
Gordon Lee is now 2-4 on the season.
In the boys' match, the Trojans and Tigers split their four matches, but Ringgold would pick up a forfeit at No. 3 singles for the deciding point in a 3-2 win.
Joseph Looney won at No. 1 singles for Gordon Lee with a 6-3, 6-2 decision over Nick Van Alstine, while Jesse Estes got a point for Ringgold with a 6-2, 6-3 win over Jonathan Bettis at No. 2 singles. Drew Wilkey would win at No. 3 singles for the Tigers by forfeit.
Ringgold's No. 1 doubles team of Carson Waters and Chandler Rawls beat Kalen Bradley and Brayden Born, 6-0, 6-1, while the Trojans No. 2 team of Logan Davis and Chandler Steele stopped Jayden Vincent and Nathan Bello, 6-2, 7-5.
Gordon Lee is now 1-5 this season.
Both the Trojans and Lady Trojans are scheduled to face Excel Christian in Chickamauga beginning at 4:30 p.m. today.
