The Gordon Lee Lady Trojans pushed the tempo all afternoon long, and pushed back the challenge from Darlington, 66-58, in a 6-A subregion battle between state-ranked teams Saturday in Rome.

No. 4 Darlington led 13-12 after the first quarter, but the No. 5-ranked Lady Trojans (14-5, 5-2) rallied to take a 31-24 lead at intermission, and then stretched the lead out to double digits in the third quarter.

The Lady Tigers (12-5, 5-1) tried to rally late, cutting the lead down to single digits in the fourth quarter, but couldn't overcome the deficit as they dropped their first subregion game of the season.

Samford University-bound Kassidy Blevins had 36 points for Gordon Lee in the win. She scored 18 points of the Lady Trojans' 20 points in the fourth quarter, including connecting on 11-of-14 free throws in the final eight minutes. Katie Barger had 13 points and Katelyn Lee pulled down 10 rebounds.

Terar Stewart had 21 points for Darlington and Maggie Beth Atha finished with 18.

Gordon Lee will be back home for the first time in nearly a month when they host rival Trion Tuesday night at 6 p.m. at the Ware-Jewell Center in Chickamauga.
