CHICKAMAUGA - The Gordon Lee Lady Trojans stunned Darlington with a 66-58 victory in Rome back on Jan. 19.

On Friday night, the Lady Tigers got their revenge.

Darlington (18-6, 10-2) used an 8-3 run in the final three minutes to claim a 74-71 win and the No. 2 seed for the Region 6-A tournament, which starts on Monday. With the loss, Gordon Lee (19-6, 9-3) will be the No. 3 seed in the tournament.

A Kassidy Blevins three-pointer gave Gordon Lee an early 13-8 lead, but Darlington would score the final 11 points of the first period and the first three points of the second period to take a 22-13 lead.

But the Lady Trojans would click off a 12-4 spurt of their own to go back in front, 26-25. Darlington would use an 8-1 to try and pull away in the closing minute of the half, but Blevins would bury a three with 18 seconds left and the Navy-and-White would go into the locker room trailing by just four points, 38-34.

The Lady Tigers would storm out the gates in the second half, building their biggest lead, 50-39, at the 4:10 mark of the third period, but once again, Gordon Lee simply refused to go away. They answered with a 15-4 run to end the quarter, trimming Darlington's lead to four points, and a Blevins three-ball with 6:11 left in the fourth would finally put Gordon Lee back in front, 57-56.

The lead would change hands six more times over the next three minutes. Rachel Simon would scored eight points for Darlington during that span, while Katherine Chambers came off the bench to drain three-pointers on three consecutive possessions for the Lady Trojans. Her third and final trey put the Gordon Lee ahead 68-66 with 3:05 remaining.

However, it would also be the last time the Lady Trojans led in the contest.

Terar Stewart, Bailey Brock, and Maggie Beth Atha combined for six straight Darlington points in a 37-second span, and Simon's steal and Brock's ensuing lay-up with 1:01 to play pushed the Lady Tigers' lead to 74-69.

Katelyn Lee's bucket pulled Gordon Lee back to within three points, and a Darlington turnover with 35 seconds left gave the Lady Trojans new life. But Katie Barger's three-point try rimmed out and Gordon Lee was forced to foul, putting Brock on the line with 12 seconds left.

Brock missed the front end of a one-and-one, but Simon came up big by rejecting a three-point try by Chambers with eight seconds left and Brock was fouled with 2.7 seconds remaining with a chance to ice the game.

However, Brock came up empty once more, giving the Lady Trojans one final possession under their own basket. But Sarah Manning was able to steal a pass at midcourt as the horn sounded as Darlington hung on for the win.

Stewart had 22 points for Darlington. Brock added 13 points, Atha 12, Manning 11, and Simon 10 in the victory.

Blevins had a game-high 34 points for Gordon Lee, including five three-pointers and a 9 for 12 night at the free throw line. Barger and Lee and 12 and 11 points, respectively, while Chambers finished with 10 points.

The next game for both teams will be during the Region 6-A tournament, which gets underway on Monday. The tournament will be held jointly at Mt. Paran Christian and the Walker School.
