BASEBALL: Gordon Lee takes down Trion

An overflow crowd watched the Gordon Lee Trojans celebrate Senior Night with a 12-2 dismantling of Trion at Claude Hendrix Field on Tuesday.

Gordon Lee (22-1, 14-1) jumped out to a 7-1 lead after the first three innings, added two more in the fifth before scoring three in the sixth to end the game on the run rule.

Adam Vandiver, Connor Coakley, Tanner Sexton, Bay Wright, Daniel Brooks, and Branton Phillips each had two hits on the night. Sexton drove in three runs, Coakley and Wright had two RBIs each, and Vandiver scored three times.

Phillips also picked up the win on the hill, allowing one earned run on one hit and four walks in three innings of work. He finished with four strikeouts. Jake Rogers worked the last three innings, giving up three hits, one walk, and one earned run with four strikeouts.

Gordon Lee will play at home on Wednesday against Darlington. Should the Trojans win, they would host the Region 6-A championship game on Friday. With a loss, Gordon Lee will host the No. 2 seed from the "B" subregion on Friday.

The Trojans also climbed up to No. 2 in the Class A public school power rankings on Tuesday. Their 13.86 points is second only to ECI's 14.42. Charlton County (13.47), Schley County (12.12), and Baconton (11.89) round out the top five.
