The Darlington softball team had a busy, but beneficial, weekend.

Competing in the Score tournament in Chattanooga, the Lady Tigers posted a 3-2 record.

The Darlington offense showed its explosiveness at times during the tourney, recording a total of 43 hits for the weekend.

Mixed in with that total were a slew of extra base hits, including Emily Thurmond’s three-run homer against Woodland (Henry).

The Lady Tigers’ defense was led by star pitcher Emily Swafford who took all three wins.

The Lady Tigers took down Cass, Calhoun and Murray County, while falling only to Ringgold and Woodland (Henry).

Darlington’s win over Calhoun was a 10-9 thriller in which Thurmond had three hits and drove in four runs.

Arden Babb added two hits and scored two runs in the win, and Morgan Sidwell had two hits and drove in a run.

Darlington beat Cass, 8-0, in five innings, and rolled past Murray County, 11-1.

Babb finished with three hits against Murray County, and Thurmond added a triple and an RBI.

Swafford had two triples. Kayla Riley and Sidwell both had doubles, with Riley driving in two runs.

The tournament brings the Lady Tigers’ record to 11-7 for the season.
