The Coosa and Darlington girls track teams capped off a successful stretch in Albany at the Girls Track and Field State Championships on Saturday.

For Coosa, the Mullenax sister tandem of Rebecca and Elizabeth placed in three Class AA events.

Elizabeth Mullenax grab-bed the highest finish on the Coosa squad by placing fifth in the 400-meter dash with a time of 1:01.03.

Rebecca Mullenax placed seventh in the 800 with a time of 2:35.79.

Coosa’s 4x400 relay team — comprised of Taknisha Peyton, Chasmine Lowe, and Rebecca and Elizabeth Mullenax — notched eighth place, finishing with a time of 4:20.85.

Darlington’s Emily Swaf-ford ran the Class A-Private School 300 hurdles event in 48.61 to place sixth in state.

The Lady Tiger 4x100 team of Busayo Amosu, Alea Vick, Swafford and Anna Loyd placed eighth in the event with a time of 52.96.

Darlington finished 15th overall.

Also at the state meet this week, Model’s Carla Clemmons placed fourth in the shot put in AA.

Darlington’s Terar Stewart placed third in the shot put and fifth in the discus in the Class A-Private School meet.

Darlington’s EJ Newborn, who placed sixth in the pole vault, and Amosu, who placed seventh in the long jump, saw success as well.
