Batting with two outs in the bottom of the seventh, Osborne drove home the winning run to lift the Eagles to a 3-2 victory over Region 7-AA rival Armuchee.

Osborne’s walk-off single capped a two-run rally by the Eagles. Earlier in the inning, Peyton Moore drove in the tying run with a double.

The victory extended Coosa’s trend of being involved in tight games this season.

“We do just enough things to keep the game close,” said Coosa coach Gus Bell. “Our kids are getting used to close ball games and tonight we just found a way to win."

The contest was a pitcher’s duel between Coosa’s Nick Tucker and Armuchee’s Chad Wilson, as they each went the distance.

Tucker finished with seven strikeouts and yielded five hits. Wilson carried a shutout through the first five innings, and suffered the hard-luck loss.

“(Wilson) pitched a heck of a game but in the end we pulled out a win," said Bell.

Sam Tuck finished 2-for-3 with a double and triple for Coosa, and Tucker was 1-for-3 with an RBI.

Bell said the victory was a team effort.

"Nick Tucker pitched a great game and we had different kids step up at the plate,” he said.
