Cedartown High School’s Nick Chubb represented his school last week at the Georgia High School Association’s Class AAAA state track and field meet.
The event was held in Jefferson at Memorial Stadium last Thursday, Friday, and Saturday.
Chubb participated in the long jump event and he had a jump of 18 feet, four inches. That distance allowed Chubb to place 15th in state.
Chubb, who is a standout running back on the football team and has over 20 major college scholarship offers, qualified for the state track and field meet by placing fifth at the Class AAAA sectional meet recently.
Chubb qualified by jumping 22 feet, four inches.
The junior had advanced to the sectionals by placing third in the long jump at the Region 7-AAAA tournament meet with a jump of 20 feet, 2.75 inches.
Kevin Williams of Monroe-Albany High School won the state long jump title, leaping 23 feet, 9.75 inches.
Marist High School won the team state title, piling up 71 points.
LaGrange came in second with 38 points, followed by Eagle’s Landing (34), Carrollton (32) and Carver-Atlanta (30.50).
