Competing in the Class AAAA state track and field meet last week in Albany, Cedartown High School’s Arkeria Boozer brought home a medal.
Participating in the long jump event, Boozer jumped 18 feet, 1.25 inches to place third in the state of Georgia.
Boozer had qualified for the state meet by winning the Region 7-AAAA title in the long jump with a distance of 17 feet, 2.5 inches. She then placed fourth in the Class AAAA state sectionals to advance to the state meet. At sectionals she jumped 17 feet, 6.25 inches.
Anasterasia Terrell of Howard High School, who leapt 18 feet, 10 inches, won the state title in the long jump. Rutland’s Adriunna Brown came in second with a jump of 18 feet, nine inches.
Cedartown’s Adriana Pegueros placed 10th in the discus event at state. She placed in the top ten after throwing the discus 106 feet, seven inches.
Pegueros had made state after winning the Region 7-AAAA title in the discus with a throw of 105 feet, five inches. She then placed fifth at sectionals, tossing it 102 feet, one inch, to qualify for state.
Ashley Harrell of Monroe-Albany won the state discus title, throwing it 132 feet, four inches.
