Competing at Grisham Stadium in Carrollton last Saturday in the Class AAAA state sectionals, Cedartown had several athletes put forth strong efforts.
Arkeria Boozer finished fourth in the long jump for the Lady Bulldogs with a leap of 17 feet, 6.25 inches. Boozer now advances to the Class AAAA state meet, May 9-11, in Albany.
Boozer came in 15th in the 200 meter dash with a time of 28.05 seconds and she came in 16th in the 100 meter dash with a time of 13.19 seconds.
Adriana Pegueros was fifth in the discus at sectionals, throwing it 102 feet, one inch. Pegueros was 15th in the shot put, tossing it 31 feet, 4.5 inches.
Cedartown’s Sydney Blackmon was 13th in the 400 meter dash with a finishing time of 1:04.29.
For the Bulldogs, Nick Chubb came in fifth in the long jump, jumping 22 feet, four inches. That performance has qualified the junior for the upcoming Class AAAA state meet, May 2-4, in Jefferson.
Chubb also placed 12th in the 100 meter dash with a time of 11.15 seconds and he came in 12th in the 200 meter dash with a time of 22.96 seconds.
Jeremy Chubb was 15th in the triple jump, covering a distance of 42 feet, five inches.
The Bulldogs 4x100 relay team finished ninth with a time of 43.94 seconds. Members of that team are Nick Chubb, Jeremy Chubb, Israel Battle and Darien Hargrove.
