After a solid spring on the links, several Walker County prep golfers continued to show what they could during the Chattanooga District Golf Association Junior Tour, which was held over the summer.
PINE MOUNTAIN, Ga. — The Southwest Section wins the Junior Sectional Challenge Match after earning 62.7 points over the two-day event. The West finished as runner-up totaling 57.2 points. The 43rd annual competition took place at Callaway Gardens in Pine Mountain, July 25-26.
Two outstanding athletes, who excelled on the diamond and even on the hardwood, have been selected as the 2015-2016 Athletes of the Year for Walker County.

Monday saw the state’s top high school golfers take to the links one final time this season, and the experience was not lost on the Model boys’ team.
The pressure was on Monday as Calhoun went to a playoff with Blessed Trinity in efforts to defend their state title from last season, and the Lady Jackets responded in fine fashion.
Walker County has earned a reputation over the past several years as a fertile ground for developing young golfers.
