The Rome High girls didn’t win their regular-season finale Wednesday, but they still had a reason to celebrate.
Senior Theresa Stevens broke the school record for single-season goals when she provided Rome’s only score during the Lady Wolves’ 5-1 loss at Sequoyah.
It was the 41st goal of the season for Stevens, who was last year’s RN-T Player of the Year.
She surpassed the previous school record of 40 set by Jessie Williamson in 2001.
The Lady Wolves next action will be in the opening round of the Class AAAAA state tournament on Tuesday when they travel to Flowery Branch.
