Girls basketball: Lady Tigers pass first round of region tourney

The Darlington Lady Tigers couldn’t have asked for a smoother first-round Region 6-A tourney game.

The Lady Tigers downed Whitefield Academy, 69-12 on Monday, allowing them to advance to the second round of the tournament.

Darlington will play the winner of the Fellowship Christian-Christian Heritage game Wednesday at Mount Paran.

The Lady Tigers saw no issues on the court as they coasted to the lopsided win.

The first quarter alone saw 27 points from Darlington, and the Lady Tigers left the first half at a very comfortable 41-5.

Terar Stewart led Darlington with 14 points.

Caroline Hunt added 11, including three 3-pointers, and Sarah Manning chipped in 10.

In all, 10 Lady Tigers contributed to the 69-point total.

Darlington’s defense held Whitefield Academy to five points or less per quarter.
