The Rockmart High School basketball teams are slated to open Region 4-AAA tournament play Tuesday at Douglass High School in Atlanta.
The Yellow Jackets (8-16), the No. 6 seed for the tournament, will play at 5:30 p.m. today against the B.E.S.T Academy (2-21) at 5:30 p.m.
That game will be a rematch of last Saturday’s regular season finale, which was won by B.E.S.T Academy 51-48. In their first meeting on Feb. 1, Rockmart won 60-57.
The other boys game scheduled for Tuesday will be at 8:30 p.m. and will feature No. 5 seeded Jackson-Atlanta (9-15) against No. 8 seeded Haralson County (2-23).
If the Yellow Jackets win they will play Central-Carroll (14-1), the No. 3 seed, on Wednesday at 8:30 p.m. The Jackson-Atlanta/Haralson County winner will draw No. 4 seed Chapel Hill (7-18) on Wednesday at 5:30 p.m.
The Lady Jackets (4-20) enter the tournament as the No. 7 seed and they open postseason play at 4 p.m. Tuesday against No. 6 seeded Jackson-Atlanta (12-14).
In their two meetings this year, Jackson-Atlanta left as the winners both times. On Dec. 15, the Lady Jaguars won 44-21 and on Jan. 22, the Lady Jaguars won 36-27.
In the other girls game on Tuesday, the No. 5 seeded Haralson County Rebelettes (10-15) will play No. 8 seeded Coretta Scott King (3-22) at 7 p.m.
If the Lady Jackets win Tuesday, they will play Wednesday at 7 p.m. against No. 3 seeded Callaway (14-7) at 7 p.m. The Haralson County/Coretta Scott King winner will play No. 4 seeded Douglass (12-14) at 4 p.m. Wednesday.
