Roll out the red carpet treatment for the Ringgold baseball program.

The Tigers, led by head coach Brent Tucker, recently earned several awards from the Georgia Dugout Club.

The new Bill Womack Field was named the 2012 Field of the Year in Class AAA, while Class of 2012 graduate Corey Kafka was named the Co-Player of the Year in Class AAA.

Tucker took home the Class AAA Coach of the Year for leading the Tigers to a second place finish in the state.

Tucker said he was extremely proud of all the honors, declining to comment on himself.

"Last season, Cory was a great leader for us,," he said. "He stepped up his game throughout the season and had a tremendous year."

Kafka, who is now at Mercer college, posted a record of 9-3 over 85 innings of work in his final year at Ringgold. He struck out 110 batters, walked 25 and had an ERA of 1.56.

Tucker said he was very honored with the award for Bill Womack Field following the April 27, 2011 tornadoes that ripped through Ringgold, and left his team homeless. He said so much time, effort and money went into rebuilding the facility and he and his Tigers were truly thankful for the community.

"We’re really proud of this award," he said. "I think this award goes out to the community, to the people who helped us raise money, the people who helped make it so nice and the administrators who worked hard to make sure everything was rebuilt."

Tucker said he couldn’t thank everyone enough for their efforts. He said it didn’t seem like long ago he was sitting on a bucket, looking out into a field of rubble.

"There was a time on the bucket where I was thinking, ‘What are we going to have, a dirt infield, or are we going to have a place to play.’ To see how it turned out is just amazing. It’s beautiful."
